Here are two Menorahs that Sophie and her mom shared with the class. The one on the left is Sophie's and the one on the right is her family's Menorah.
Sophie and her mom shared, with the class, what they do during Hanukkah. They showed us how they light the candles and how, unlike birthday candles, you let them burn until they go out. You don't blow them out. We learned about the middle candle, the 'helper-candle' and that there are a total of 8 other candles for the 8 nights of Hanukkah.
Sophie and her mom shared a story about Hanukkah and they taught us all about the oil that lasted longer than it should have, traditional foods that are eaten during Hanukkah, and Dreidels!
Sophie showed us how to play the Dreidel game and how to spin the Dreidel. She also brought Dreidels for everyone in the class and directions on how to play!Thanks, Sophie!
